The Good Serpent Orphanage
At the turn of the century, deformed children of the Good Servant Orphanage hailed from all over the world, giving it a reputation for benevolence and good-will...but appearances can be deceiving. Forced by a wicked headmaster to forage for their own food or starve, bands of malformed children head out at night to scavenge, led by a masked twelve-year old named Luther. The little night raiders are so hideous looking that the locals soon adopt an evil moniker for the institution, referring to it as the Good "Serpent" Orphanage and the unfortunate wards of the place as "monsters". When tensions between the two groups reach the breaking point, a deliberately set fire puts a violent end to the horrors that were perpetutated upon the young innocents whom society abandoned to the custody of a cruel and wicked Orphanage... and, in so doing, gives birth to the Zodiac, the most notorious (and to this day, still unidentified) serial killer in California history.
This historically accurate novel also serves to explain much of the hauntings and paranormal occurences in Vallejo. To this day, the violent young souls of the Good Serpent Orphanage are often seen in the area at night, terrorizing anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths after dark...making it one of the most haunted locales in all of northern California.
